Since its inception, the Laurels String Quartet – Josh Misner (1st violin), Jesse Peterson and Zachary Scanlan (sharing 2nd violin), Erica Burton (viola), and Dan Lawonn (cello) – has pursued the vision of combining the world of string chamber music with the popular music of today, ranging from rock music to classical music and more. In the process, the Laurels String Quartet has become the go-to quartet for many celebrated artists and groups in town as Jeremy Messersmith, Motion City Soundtrack, Adam Levy (Honeydogs), Dessa (Doomtree), Chris Koza (Rogue Valley), Gary Louris (Jayhawks), Matt Wilson (Trip Shakespeare), Lucy Michelle, Chan Poling (The New Standards), The New Standards, and John Munson (TNS, Semisonic, Trip Shakespeare).  The quartet has also worked with such national artists as Grammy Award winner Dan Wilson (Semisonic, Dixie Chicks, Adele), Nico Muhly, Sam Amidon, Doveman, and Nadia Sirota.
